Five questions that we as dentists get asked all the time:

  • What toothbrush and what toothpaste do I use ?
    A super soft sensitive tooth brush, it can be electric if you like with a pressure sensor or a manual, – A fluoride toothpaste – fluoride is really really important for remineralising your teeth and protecting them against tooth decay.

  • Do I really need to floss ?
    ABSOLUTELY. A toothbrush can’t physically get in between the teeth like floss does.

  • Does a rinse or a mouthwash help ?
    Make sure you never do it after brushing, you brush your teeth with toothpaste, a protective layer which is the fluoride layer sits on your teeth and it takes 20 to 30 minutes to do it’s work. If you’re rinsing straight away, you’re essentially rinsing all that fluoride off.

  • Are X-rays safe? And are they really necessary ?
    They are necessary to detect bone levels and cavities which cannot be seen with the naked eye. Doses similar to about 20 minutes in the Sun.
